James River Ranger District, USDA Forest Service.
The 164,000 acres of the James River Ranger District offer excellent hunting opportunities for white-tailed deer, wild turkey, black bear, ruffed grouse, dove, squirrel and rabbit. Lake Moomaw (2500 acres), which is shared with the Warm Springs Ranger District, offers limited Canadian geese and other waterfowl hunting opportunities in addition to excellent bass and trout fishing.

James River Outdoor Coalition (JROC)
a non-profit organization that supports the James River Park System through donations and volunteer efforts to improve park facilities. JROC also takes an active role in issues that affect the Park System's useage and its natural resources.
